Dear members,

As Brexit progresses and reaches completion, the implementation of a series of new regulations and jurisdictions related to the UK’s Data Protection Act (GDPR) has become the focus of attention for many businesses. Compliance and legality of international data transfers between the UK, EU and China, and the balancing of commercial interests and legal risks, are huge challenges for many Chinese companies today. Therefore, the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK will hold a seminar on Cybersecurity and International Transfers of Personal Data on Tuesday, 10th January. We have invited DWF law firm to introduce the changes in the data protection law (GDPR) after Brexit and the impact on Chinese enterprises, including the current situation of cyber-security, the relationship between cybersecurity and data transmission, their importance to Chinese enterprises in the UK and the legal risks they face, as well as the measures that enterprises can take in, balancing legal risks and business interests.

A number of special guests will be invited to address the event, including BAO Ling, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the UK and CAO Li, Vice Chairman of the CCCUK and Managing Director of China Telecom (Europe) Ltd.

In addition, our two seminar speakers will be James Drury-Smith, UK National Leader of Privacy and Cyber Security and Partner of DWF and Tuğhan Thuraisingam, FS Sector Leader of Data Protection, Privacy and Cyber Security and Director of DWF. They have many years of experience in the industry and were involved in drafting and publishing the first book on UK data protection law. In recent years, they have represented a number of financial institutions, insurance companies, high-tech companies, communications companies and the UK government in relation to cyber security and data protection.

This event is an in-person English seminar and CCCUK members are welcome to encourage their staff and clients to attend this event. The details of the event are as follows:
