Dear members:
Over the last decade, there has been increasing appetite amongst international and supranational organisations, governments, regulators, investors and consumers to transition to a more sustainable economy. Sustainability issues have become a focal point when making key decisions and long-term strategy for business across sectors.
To help members have a better understanding of the sustainable finance, the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK, Standard Chartered and Clifford Chance will jointly hold a sustainable finance seminar on Wednesday 29 September at 10:00 -11:00 am. Sustainable finance refers to the process of taking environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into account when making investment decisions in the financial sector, leading to more long-term investments in sustainable economic activities and projects.
This webinar will give an introduction of sustainable finance, provide an overview of sustainable finance products, give suggestions to help companies mitigate risks, so as to quickly adapt to new regulatory and compliance challenges.

Caroline specialises in advising financial institutions and other market participants on financial market regulation, mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector and securities and derivatives transactions. Caroline has a particular focus on sustainable finance and commodities regulation and is on Clifford Chance’s ESG Board.

Matthew Fairclough’s practice covers a broad range of debt and equity capital markets, advising on issues of straight debt securities, MTN, CD and CP programmes, convertible and exchangeable bonds (including pre-IPO financings), corporate hybrid capital and regulatory capital products. His clients include underwriters, corporate, financial institution and sovereign issuers and trustees. Before relocating to London in 2020, Matt spent nearly 15 years practising in the Asia Pacific region, in Clifford Chance’s offices in Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong and advised on transactions throughout the region. He is admitted to practice in England & Wales and in Hong Kong.
